I think it's a really cute idea to write a story from a dog's narrative. I'm interested in seeing how you "map" out his day. I would imagine he will be going on walks? Maybe a car ride? I think it's a good start!
Gina: This is a great start. I think the story from Mason's view will be enjoyable and fascinating. The squirrel bit suggests the direction to go. Think about all the other incidents to include. What is the shape or drama of each incident? Also, what characters does Mason encounter? People, other dogs (there's already squirrel). Also, think of whether there's an ongoing drama or quest or adventure that links the different segments of the text... It seems to me that the map will be easy enough - think of where Mason goes in a day and use a fairly close up map.
